Purpose of this blog and how to navigate

I call this blog "1030 63rd St".  Childhood home.  Family home.  The address that two generations of Andrews grew up in.  But this blog covers more than that.  This is a site to share family memories - Andrew and Payne.  You will see a slant toward my family but that's what I have the most access to.

"Posts" will appear in chronological order but that's just how a blog is set up to work.  I can "label" (categorize) posts by a name or topic and that is how I see the blog being used.  To find categories, look at the menu on the right.  So for example if you want to see posts related to "Shenandoah", then click on that and see them.  At any time, you can click at the top of the page and go back "home".  If you are in a label/category and get to the bottom of the page, look for "Older Posts" and you can continue until there are no more posts for that category.  Then you could click someone's name and then see posts related to that person.

To keep things somewhat organized, I will use a person's first name for a category.  So Granddad Payne will be "Frank".  No disrespect...just easier to find.  So I will not be putting "uncle" or "aunt" by a name.  LaVonne will not be Aunt LaVonne for example.

I have been scanning slides, photos, articles and documents for awhile now.  And you will see pictures and articles from The Des Moines Register & Tribune.  Searching on that site really brought forward some good information...things I would have never known or seen.

The idea is to create a virtual scrapbook...a place where memories, recollections, facts and images can be captured.  There is the ability to comment and through comments, we can all share in memories or get a better understanding of what was happening in a particular photo or maybe where it was taken.  I think of it as collective memories.  If you have images you want to send me, I can upload and add to the collection.  Please send to alanrandrew@msn.com.  You can also e-mail comments, memories and even corrections to that same address.

Thank you and visit often.  This is a "living" site meaning it will be continually updated.
